October 2018
I often hear misconception when it comes to retirement villages. I meet a lot of people who think retirement villages are secluded locations, where residents never leave and the reality is that retirement villages are thriving senior communities that residents call home.
At Evergreen, we create a place you can relax, enjoy wonderful facilities, and make meaningful friendships.
So, in the spirit of sharing, I want to let you in on a few things you might not know about retirement villages:
Retirement villages have fantastic facilities and services right on your front door, offering residents easy access to a variety of shops. Residents love being able to nip to the shop easily – and often bump into friends whilst they’re there!
At Evergreen, we have beautiful scenery and wildlife on our doorstep. Most retirement villages include lots of greenery and natural surroundings for residents to enjoy. It’s a nice break from the noise and bustle of urban life! We believe it’s important for well-being and it helps foster an environment that residents can enjoy.
Guests can, of course, leave when they wish but retirement villages are safe places where residents feel secure and looked after. Some communities include gates, whilst others have CCTV to ensure guests feel secure.
Many people are unsure about whether they can take their pet when they move into retirement villages and aged care facilities – which can sometimes mean having to surrender a beloved animal or hand them over to family. The good news for animal owners is a growing number of retirement villages welcome pets – Evergreen is proud to be one of them. We feel the benefits of pet ownership far outweigh the demands, and we’re delighted to welcome furry friends.
There is a perception that retirement villages are lonely places. In reality, this couldn’t be further from the truth. There is a plethora of activities on offer for residents such as games mornings, dance classes, monthly luncheon outings, craft markets, fashion shows, interesting guest speakers and Friday happy hour.
I hope you’ve found this information useful. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
Yours sincerely,
