My husband, Clive, and I have lived in Evergreen Village for almost 9 years. We decided to move to a retirement village while we were still active and able to enjoy the benefits. We were both semi-retired when we moved here. It was a very different environment from living in a suburban street. Also, we had to adapt from our busy working lives to a more laid-back lifestyle, which we found difficult at first. However, we soon became involved in helping with introducing activities to the village. Clive became President of the committee for 2 years and formed a men’s group for those interested in pool and darts, which still runs a few times a week. I started teaching Line Dancing, which is my passion! I am a qualified, registered dance teacher and enjoy passing on my knowledge to others and seeing the pleasure I bring to them.
There are now more activities and events as the village has grown. We look forward to interacting with other residents at the many functions we have. We enjoy the bingo sessions, special lunches, morning teas and dinners. Also, our annual market in a popular event.
Anne Warner and Sharyn Allsop have brought a breath of fresh air since joining the village as managerial staff, making sure everything runs smoothly. They are helpful and friendly and very efficient. Friends and family are made welcome and we take an interest in learning about each other. We feel secure knowing our maintenance work is carried out efficiently and promptly. The surroundings are very pleasant and well maintained.
I would advise anyone considering living in a retirement village to move in while they are still. able to enjoy the lifestyle on offer and not leave it too late!!
